.GD and .VG: Premium Domains

Please note that 1 and 2 character .GD and .VG domains will now be treated as premium domains. Newly registered domains will have a premium registration price and a standard renewal price. .ONL / .RICH: IDNs and Release of Premium Domains

I-Registry, the registry that operates .ONL and .RICH, has enabled the following IDNs (Internationalized Domain Names): Belarusian, Bosnian, Bulgarian, Chinese (Simplified/Traditional), Danish, Hungarian, Icelandic, Korean, Lithuanian, Latvian, Macedonian, Montenegrin, Polish, Russian, Serbian, Swedish, Spanish, and Ukrainian.

The registry has also made premium domains available for the first time and released over 20,000 .ONL names and 15,000 .RICH names to the registrar channel including all 1- and 2-character names and a huge number of short and intuitive names. Price Increase for .PH
January 1, 2019

As mentioned in our March 2018 newsletter, the .PH registry is raising the price of .PH domains for foreign domain registrars. The first increase took place on April 1, 2018. A second increase will go into effect on January 1, 2019. It applies to .PH, .COM.PH, .NET.PH, and .ORG.PH. Customers that have existing .PH registrations should consider renewing prior to this increase. The third increase will take place in 2020 and we will announce details about this in future newsletters.

As of January 1st, 2019, Donuts will be increasing their pricing for DPML. Customers can continue to create and renew DPML subscriptions for up to 10 years at current pricing up until January 1, 2019, and will still gain access to the full suite of features that DPML provides.

DPML now includes a homographic blocking feature, designed to protect current and future DPML subscribers from some of the world's most sophisticated and common phishing techniques. Homograph attacks are a type of phishing technique used by malicious actors. Their objective is to imitate brands and recognizable domain names through the use of IDN (Internationalised Domain Name) registrations.

An example: say a malicious person wants to send out emails to Google users, to fool them into providing confidential account and credit card information. The source email address from the phisher might read, “info@gοοgle.com”. Note that the two O’s in the email address are actually Cyrillic characters. Hard to spot, unless you’re trained to look for it. Donuts' Homograph Protection Service will automatically enhance brand protection by preventing many of these vulnerable domains from getting into the hands of unscrupulous users.

.LAW/.ABOGADO: Updates to Verification Process
January 7, 2019

While the eligibility criteria for registering a .ABOGADO/.LAW domain remain the same, the verification process has been greatly simplified.

Customers registering via our control panel:
It is now easier to register a .LAW/.ABOGADO domain. You must only confirm that you are a qualified legal professional and that all information provided in your registration is true and accurate.

Customers registering via API:
You are encouraged to update the purchase flow for .LAW and .ABOGADO to reflect a simplified verification process, which is effective immediately.

Changes to .CLUB Premium Pricing Tiers
January 16, 2019

The .CLUB registry will be adding, removing and moving names between price tiers within the existing premium tier pricing structure on January 16, 2019. The current Premium D tier will be replaced by a more expensive Premium A tier. The names currently in Premium D tier will be moved to Premium E tier. Approximately 1,000 new premium names will be added to the inventory.

TLD Registry Ltd. is increasing the price for .在线 (xn--3ds443g “Dot Chinese Online”) domains effective March 15, 2019. This price increase will only apply to new registrations, renewals and transfers from the effective date. Impact on existing domains: all domains registered before March 15, 2019 will be grandfathered and will continue to renew at the existing pricing mentioned below instead of the more expensive pricing until they are deleted or transferred. There is no expiration date for this policy.
