Good news from the .SWISS registry: Since April 24, 2024, natural persons domiciled in Switzerland and Swiss nationals can also register .SWISS domains. Don't miss out on this great opportunity for your customers! 

The following changes have come into effect:

• New extension: X-SWISS-OWNER-TYPE = P | O (person | organization)
• If X-SWISS-OWNER-TYPE is set to P, please use the extension as follows: X-SWISS-UID = <756.dddd.dddd.dd> (dedicated format for Universal Person Identification; d = digit)
• If X-SWISS-OWNER-TYPE is set to O, the use of the extension is as follows: X-SWISS-UID = <CHE-ddd.ddd.ddd> (dedicated format for Business Identification Number or Enterprise ID, d = digit)
• X-SWISS-UID replaces X-SWISS-REGISTRANT-ENTERPRISE-ID as of April 24
• X-CORE-INTENDED-USE is used for describing the intended use for the domain name

To enable the registry to verify the eligibility of a company for the use of a specific domain, registrars must supply an "Enterprise ID" information string for the registrant contact of a .SWISS domain, denoting the registered company ID of the company represented by the contact.

Natural persons may only register a .SWISS domain name if it contains at least one of the following designations:

• one of the official names or other names registered in the civil register
• one of the forenames
• a married name
• a registered partnership name
• a name received in a religious order
• an artist's name under which the person has become known or
• a name attached to a distinctive sign (e.g. a registered trade mark) to which the applicant has the rights

A freely chosen designation may be added to any of these compulsory designations. Read more about the rules for individuals on the registry website.
