An exciting new chapter for our Partners & Customers.
All the great things you love about HEXONET are now part of CentralNic Reseller.
We are excited to inform you that HEXONET will soon be merging with CentralNic Reseller, a fellow brand within our group. This integration is part of our ongoing efforts to streamline our services and provide you with enhanced solutions under a unified platform. At present, this migration is being rolled out to our Resellers (wholesale customers) only, our retail customers will be contacted soon with further steps.
This page contains all the important information regarding the migration and covers details on products, services, platform and technology, along with any next steps that you need to take.
During this transition, you can expect the same high level of service, with some changes to processes and account management. This page will be updated regularly with new information as the transition progresses.
1. Overview of Migration
ONBOARDING PHASE
- Resellers are required to have an active account at CentralNic Reseller (See “What steps do I need to take?” Section).
- CentralNic Reseller will take care of the domain migration so there won’t be a special action required by you, the Reseller. Domains are being migrated on their own setups (accreditations), they are not being moved across accreditations – and as such there is no extra cost or additional renewals involved in the process.
- Depending on the implementation on your end, you might need to update the new contact handles as after migration, domains will get new contact handles. This will be confirmed with you on a case-by-case basis.
PRE-MIGRATION PHASE
One week before the migration:
- System readiness will be confirmed.
- We will:
- Confirm that your customer account is active.
- Confirm that you have reset your password in CentralNic Reseller or confirm that you have access to your account.
- Confirm that your account is topped up or that a credit line exists.
- Create a report of domains that will be renewed/deleted shortly after the migration and provide it to you if requested.
- Send you a notification to remind about the migration date.
MIGRATION DAY PHASE:
- On this day you will receive an email regarding the start of the migration.
- A migration lock will be added to your account to prevent auto renewals / auto deletions.
- We will execute the migration at our end.
- Once the migration is complete, we will notify you that the migration has been completed.
- The contact handles (identifiers) will change to new handles
KEY TRANSITION MILESTONES AND ACTION STEPS:
As part of this transition, we want to make you aware of what changes will occur in the HEXONET system and the key dates you need to be aware of for when these changes are planned to take effect.
30th December 2024
No new developments or updates will be made to the HEXONET platform after this date, except for critical security items. For example, the platform will not be upgraded to support compliance with the upcoming NIS2 regulations for European ccTLD’s.
1st March 2025
From this date it is recommended that all new domain purchases are made through the CentralNic Reseller platform to ensure NIS2 compliance.
24th March 2025
Due to known code breaking changes from some EU Registry providers in response to NIS2, new and existing registrations and renewals for .DE, .AT and .PL domains must be made through the CentralNic Reseller platform from this date. We cannot guarantee the operation of these TLDs will be supported on the legacy Hexonet platform from this date.
1st May 2025
From this date, it is recommended that all new domain & product purchases are made through the CentralNic Reseller platform.
End of June 2025
All your customer portfolios will have been migrated to the CentralNic Reseller platform. HEXONET's support will be limited to email only, and service level agreements (SLAs) as well as credit facilities will be reduced. The HEXONET systems will start to be decommissioned from this date.
During the migration of your existing domains, management of these domains will be temporarily unavailable, domains and DNS services will continue to function as usual. You can already register new domains through CentralNic Reseller before the migration. We do not anticipate any data loss during the migration.

3. What steps do I need to take?
Depending on which product you are currently using, you may need to perform a few actions to ensure that you do not lose critical business information & customer data. Only our reseller customers need to follow these steps. Our retail customers will be contacted soon with relevant information.
- Step 1: Create your CentralNic Reseller Account
- Step 2: Integrate with CentralNic Reseller (CNR)
- Step 3: Receive and Agree on your Migration Date
Step 1: Create your CentralNic Reseller Account
- Requirement: To qualify as a CentralNic Reseller, you must register at least 100 domains within 1 year OR transfer at least 100 domains to CentralNic Reseller after you sign-up.
- All Resellers need to sign up to CentralNic Reseller. Use the link below to do so: https://www.centralnicreseller.com/sign-up/
- Once the form is completed, your account will be created and will show with the status as “Pending”.
- The next steps are making sure the registrar data is complete, and the account is topped up with funds - 75 EUR minimum via one of the available payment methods (https://www.centralnicreseller.com/payment-options/).
- Once the account is topped up, the account status is changed to “Unverified”. This means the account has been activated but transactions are limited to the initial 75 EUR account balance. The amount of allowed API commands is limited as well.
- To get an unlimited and verified CentralNic Reseller account, an Account Manager will reach out to clarify details such as expected domain registration volumes and the appropriate service structure. In addition, you will receive the necessary contracts (RSP General Agreement, Confidentiality Agreement, RSP Data Info-Form) that must be signed and submitted via email, fax, or post.
- Resellers need to ensure they have sufficient funds in their CentralNic Reseller account – CentralNic Reseller is based on pre-payment, so you need to pre-load funds. We offer three methods of payment for a verified account: credit card payment, wire transfer, and PayPal. (https://www.centralnicreseller.com/paymentoptions/) . Customer balances will be transferred to CentralNic Reseller.
Step 2: Integrating with CentralNic Reseller
- Once your CentralNic Reseller account is successfully created, you will have access to the OT&E environment, where you will be able to test the technical integration and have an overview of the overall CentralNic Reseller backend.
- Resellers can connect to the CentralNic Reseller system by control panel and/or API.
- The different API gateways available on CentralNic Reseller (CNR) are EPP, XRRP, XML, SOAP, and HTTPS. Please see the CentralNic Reseller documentation here: https://kb.centralnicreseller.com/ or available in the Downloads section of the CentralNic Reseller Control Panel.
- If the HEXONET Reseller is exclusively using WHMCS or the Control Panel, no installation is required. However, we recommend WHMCS customers download CentralNic Reseller v23.10.7 module from the marketplace. You'll need to follow our provided instructions to configure the CNR module, update Service Provider (Registrar) details, lookup provider, TLD list, and other settings as required by WHMCS.
Please follow this guide for reference: https://www.hexonet.support/hc/en-gb/articles/21211122867741-WHMCS-Migration-from-HEXONET-to-CentralNic-Reseller
Step 3: Receive your Migration Date
- CentralNic Reseller will take care of the domain migration, so there will not be any special actions required by you during the migration itself.
- We will inform you about your migration date once it has been confirmed by our internal team.

Domain Renewal System
HEXONET | CentralNic Reseller | |
---|---|---|
Tech Documentation | https://wiki.hexonet.net/wiki/HEXONET_Renewal_System | https://kb.centralnicreseller.com/domains/renewal-system |
Automated Renewals - Outline | The automated renewal and/or deletion of domains by the Renewal system, is based on sophisticated third-party rules, including registry regulations and policies, as well as temporal constraints (time-based rules). | Same concept, the Renewal System handles the automated renewal and/or deletion of domains based on specific rules and time constraints depending on TLD. It functions based on renewal modes, like HEXONET, although more such modes are in place. The biggest difference comes in the way the domain lifecycle specific periods are implemented and used in the system - our recommendation is not to try to simply replace within the HEXONET integration an equivalent period for CentralNic Reseller, as the handling is very different - but rather to implement from scratch, as CentralNic Reseller’s system allows for different approaches - see section “Best practices” from https://kb.centralnicreseller.com/domains/renewal-system |
